Earth Splitter is a much darker novel than its predecessor, Sea Spray. That is by design, since Earth Splitter dedicates a lot of the content to investigating several characters that did not receive a prime-slot in the first book and they have much more brutal backstories. Of course, everything serves to advance the story and paint a picture of why these people act the way they do.

Eden: Interpreting Paradise
People might have their own preconceptions about what they envision my novel, Eden, to be about. That is fine. That is what I expect from the world today. People are allowed to formulate opinions and speculate on things they know little about. For me, however, Eden is a little more complicated than being a word for paradise.
Crucible: Remember The Fallen
With my remembrance out of the way, I need to state that there are only two days a year where I refrain from partaking in any violence through any medium whatsoever. Today was one of those days. This reflects in my writing as I opted to avoid using any real action sequences. This played masterfully into the plot of Crucible and it allowed me to get creative with what I did.
Crow: Breaking and Entering
I will come right out and say it: Crow is my favourite novel to work on right now. I think a lot of that is down to how different it is compared to what I am used to doing. I stated last week that relationship drama is not a focal point of the novel and I intend to stick by that. What makes Crow work as a novel is the conflict between Ashley Hudson and Crow Enterprises.
Ascension: Down and Dirty
Each week I learn some different technique or see something in a different light and it hearkens back to a conversation I had not too long ago. The fact that I am working on so many novels at the same time opens up a lot of doors for my writing. I might have an idea that does not work for a particular novel, but I keep it in mind for use in one of the others and it is a rewarding cycle. It means that nothing I think of goes to waste and improves every single thing I write. That is the goal after all. Improvement.
Reality: Pedal to the Metal
The home stretch of Reality is within reach. While I struggle sometimes at the end of a novel as I did today, I realise what is important and what is not. I want to make Reality the best it can be and the best way to do that is hold nothing back from this point. I admit I am usually a reserved writer, but there are moments when I need to do something that stands out. I feel I have done that.
Earth Splitter: Thoughts of Home !!CONTENT WARNING!!
Why do I want to encourage people to write? It's because of the way the world works. Sure, writers are not guaranteed any monetary gain, but that is not why people should write. People should write because of the stories they tell. These stories are what inspire us to be the best we can be. I cannot imagine what a world without stories would look like and I do not wish it on any generation.
Eden: Embrace the Dark
As the week draws on, naturally people lose their will to work, but a surprise for me was that it was not terrible like it most weeks for me. I wanted to write Eden, but boy was it hard to continue after the brilliant way that the previous chapter ended. I still get chills thinking about how well I can write when I am passionate about it. Not that I am not passionate about writing, but some days there is work better than other days.
Crucible: The Crowning
I cannot state how much I love to write. It is the one thing in life that gives me real enjoyment from doing it. Sure, I have tried to have a couple of relationships, but they broke down because the other person did not have the drive and determination to make it work that I did. I use that same drive and determination to progress my books each and every day that I get out of bed.
Crow: I Swear I Had A Word Limit
The word count for this week tells the entire story of my work for today. I don't understand what tempted me to write so much, but it felt good to get it all out. I think I got so caught up in the drama that I didn't care about sticking to my plan. I see it as a good thing as opposed to a bad thing. I didn't raise the bar for next week, but I did afford myself a lot of new material to build off of.
